WE ARE LEARNING TO RETELL A STORY:

Crinkum-Crankum by Margaret Mahy

Once there was a tree that had a fairy godmother. A witch flew by. The witch told the tree to grow crooked. The fairy godmother came along and told the tree to grow sweet.

A year later the witch came by and she was angry. She told the tree to grow lazy-crazy. The fairy godmother came along to see how the tree was getting on. The fairy godmother told the tree to grow golden.

A year later the witch flew by again. She told the tree to grow crinkum-crankum. The fairy godmother came to see how the tree was getting on. The fairy godmother told the tree to grow safe.

The witch flew by again and saw that children were playing in the tree and having fun. The witch was so angry that she burst like a black balloon but no one saw her go.
