WE ARE LEARNING TO RETELL A STORY:

Crinkum-Crankum by Margaret Mahy

Once upon a time there was a tree that had a fairy godmother. A witch flew by and told the tree to grow crooked. The fairy godmother came and touched the tree. She told it to grow sweet.

The witch came back and saw the tree growing sweet. She told the tree to grow lazy-crazy. The fairy godmother came to see the tree. She told the tree to grow golden.

The witch came back again to see the tree. She told the tree to grow crinkum-crankum. A year later the fairy godmother came to check on the tree. She touched the tree and told it to grow safe.

A year later the witch came back and she saw children playing on the tree and in the branches. The witch was so angry that she burst like a black balloon and no one ever saw her again.
