WE ARE LEARNING TO RETELL A STORY:
Crinkum-Crankum by Margaret Mahy
Once upon a time there was a tree and it had a fairy godmother. There was a witch that always flew by. The witch told the tree to grow crooked. The fairy godmother came and touched the tree. She told it to grow sweet and a little tiny flower appeared.
A year later the witch flew by again. She got angry and she said to the tree “Grow lazy-crazy!” The fairy godmother came back to see the tree. “Grow golden,” said the fairy godmother.
A year later the witch flew by again. She was furious. “Grow crinkum-crankum!” said the witch. ‘Oh dear,” said the fairy godmother. She touched the tree and said ‘Grow safe.”
A year later the witch came back and saw the children playing in the tree. The witch was so angry that she burst like a black balloon when she saw the children playing.
